We do not run any tracking cookies, targeted advertising cookies, or third-party social-media widgets that would set their own cookies on your device. If your browser blocks cookies entirely, this website continues to function normally.
How we use information
The anonymised access logs are used to monitor for abuse, diagnose technical issues, and produce aggregate readership statistics that never identify individuals. Correspondence is used to reply to your query and, where relevant, to update the affected page or answer a similar question in future editorial. We do not sell, licence or share personal information with third parties for their own use.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 1988
The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) gives Australian residents specific rights over personal information held about them. You can request access to any personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, and ask us to delete information where we are not legally required to keep it. Requests should be sent to [email protected] and will be answered within a reasonable period, usually two working weeks.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The Commissioner accepts complaints about how Australian entities handle personal information under the Privacy Act, and their contact details are publicly listed on Australian government websites.
Data security
Our hosting environment is protected by industry-standard access controls, transport encryption (HTTPS on every page), and periodic backups. Access to server logs and correspondence is limited to the editorial team members who need it. We do not process payment information; there is no cashier, no user account and no login on this site.
Third parties
We do not embed third-party widgets, analytics scripts or advertising networks. Where we link out to another website, that website has its own privacy practices and is not under our control. External links on the Responsible Gambling section point to public reference sites and government pages that carry their own privacy notices.
Policy updates
We review this policy at least once a year and whenever a material change is made to our data-handling practices. Changes are dated at the top of this page. Continuing to use the website after a policy update means you accept the updated policy; if you disagree with any change, please contact us and stop using the site.
